What Determines the Price of a Portable Desalination Machine?

The final price of a portable seawater desalination machine is not a single fixed number: it is quoted per configuration, because the power version, accessory package, order quantity and customization level all change the bill of materials. WTEYA therefore prices every portable desalination machine to the exact duty it will face — from a 24V marine unit for a fishing boat to a solar kit for an off-grid camp.

Configuration Factors That Drive the Price

Four variables account for most of the difference between two quotations for the same machine family.

Power version. The standard 220V AC version is the most economical. A 24V DC marine version adds a dedicated converter and marine-grade wiring, and a solar kit adds panels, a charge controller and a battery bank — the largest single step up in price.

Accessory package. A basic unit and a turnkey package use the same core desalination module but differ in scope: raw water pump, suction and delivery piping, the number of pre-filter cartridges, and whether a spare parts kit is included for remote locations.

Order quantity. Because the RO membrane, high-pressure pump and housing are the dominant cost elements, bulk purchase for a fleet, a resort island or a dealer stock order brings a clear discount per unit.

Customization. Special voltages such as 60Hz for certain markets, non-standard connections, or a frame adapted to a specific deck or skid footprint are quoted as engineering additions.

What the Machine Costs to Run

Purchase price is only part of the picture. On the SW-4021 platform the installed power is 1.35 kW, which at a rated output of 50 LPH works out to roughly 27 kWh per ton of fresh water — an upper-bound estimate that depends on feed salinity and operating conditions.

Consumables are the other recurring item. A typical service cycle covers the 10µm and 5µm pre-filter cartridges, a UV lamp rated beyond 3,000 hours, an RO membrane rated beyond 3,600 hours, and gear oil (CKD220) changed every 500 hours. Compared with shipping fresh water to a boat, island or coastal site, long-term operation brings the cost per liter down substantially.

How to Get an Accurate Quotation

Send us four data points and the price can be fixed in one round: feed water source (sea, brackish or shore water), required output in LPH or GPD, available power supply, and installation environment. WTEYA will return a configuration with the matching power version, accessory list and delivery schedule.
